Cooking

Culinary Camp: Savory to Pastry

Designed for students who are serious about cooking and creating epic food masterpiece!

 

Day 1: Baking

Quick breads, Biscuits, and Yeast Products; Cake Decorating; Pudding, Mousse, and Pâte à Choux; Cookies.

 

Day 2: Culinary Passport

International Cuisine; Sanitation & Safety and Knife Skills; Home Pasta, Raviolis, Gnocchi & Pesto; Meatball Wellington; Oriental Flair - Pad Thai to Won Tons.

 

Day 3: Individual Talents

Students will choose a path of Pastry or Culinary for the day. Pastry will include cake design and elevated baking creations. Culinary will include ethnic cuisine and culinary wonders.

Teamwork

Calling All Aspiring Art Directors

There is a new product on the market that needs creative people to come up with an ad campaign. Students will use the state of the art Apple computers, software, and digital cameras to create a label, buttons, and a commercial to promote their product.

Day 1: Brainstorm

All students will create a new drink; example: a fruit juice or flavored soda, etc. mixture.

Day 2: Collaborate

Students will be divided into groups to create a logo, a printed label, and produce a commercial.

Day 3: Advertise

Students will use the digital camera to create a skit. They will edit movies in Imovie and post the final commercials to YouTube.

Gardening

Day 1: Mini-Garden

Create mini-garden planters and learn about vegetable garden plants.

Day 2: Terrariums

Learn about terrariums – varieties, uses, care, how they mimic an ecosystem – and build your own terrarium to take home.

Day 3: Forests

Make a forest, learn how to prepare soil and plant a tree – proper technique for our area and soil – mulch, prune, and care for a new planting. Students will also prepare and take home “instant forest” tree seed bags.

Week 2 July 17-19

Making Dessert
Student rockets

Baking 101: The Dessert Table  *click the title for the registration form

Day 1: Baking Concepts

Learn about kitchen safety & sanitation, quick-breads, cookies, and muffins.

 

Day 2: Yeast Breads

Learn to make cinnamon rolls, pizzas, and chocolate lovers desserts.

 

Day 3: Cake Decorating

You get to take your creation home! Pie Heaven and Crusts and More!

Students will design, build, and launch Rockets. Competitions will be judged on speed, design, and endurance.

Day 1: Design

Rockets will be designed by students.


Day 2: Build

Students will build rockets based on their designs.

 

Day 3: Launch

Competitions will be held and judged.

Manicures

The Ultimate Spa Experience  *click the title for the registration form

This three-day beauty camp is being offered to students who are interested in experiencing a state of well-being with the ultimate spa experience.

 

Day 1: Manicures and pedicures 

Students will learn the proper procedure, sanitation and safety of a basic manicure, including a paraffin hand treatment on partners. Student will also learn the proper procedure, sanitation and safety of a basic pedicure on a partner.

 

Day 2: Pedicures 

Students will learn the proper procedure, sanitation and safety of shampooing a partner and basic hairstyling.

 

Day 3: Facials and skin care 

Students will learn the proper skincare and the facial procedure including specialty masks and packs on a partner.

Week 3 July 24-26

Wildlife
Graphic Communications

Wildlife Week  *click the title for the registration form

Day 1: Habitats

Students will build nest boxes and learn about backyard wildlife habitats.

Day 2: Build

Students will build rustic furniture (stools) and learn about the uses for wood products in the backyard.

Day 3: Go Fish

Students will learn about fishing and building their own fishing poles out of willow or dogwood and test them by fishing for live Bass and Bluegill in the classroom.

Digital Media

Photoshop is used to combine images and textures in a creative way. Campers will create photo montages while learning about artistic filters and the basics of touch up. They will have an opportunity to make an animation.

Day 1: PhotoShop

Students will take selfie pics with special effects in PhotoShop.

 

Day 2: Animate

Students will learn how to make an animation.

 

Day 3: Illustrate

Students will illustrate a character of themselves and create a silk-screen T-Shirt.

Race model cars

CO2 Dragster Design  *click the title for the registration form

Students will design, build, and race model cars. Competitions will be judged on speed, design, and endurance.

Day 1: Design

Race cars will be designed by students.


Day 2: Build

Students will build race cars based on their designs.

Day 3: Race

Competitions will be held and judged.
